Welcome to PHOTO.COMM

PHOTO.COMM - "Design & Engineering of Photosynthetic Communities for Industrial Cultivation" is an EU-funded collaborative project on the design of light-driven microbial communities of microalgae or cyanobacteria for sustainable large-scale production of chemicals, general biomass fuels and eventually fuel.

The overall aim of the PHOTO.COMM research is to improve the sustainability and economic viability of industrial biotechnological products from microalgae and cyanobacteria.

The primary strategic aim of PHOTO.COMM is to train a new generation of young researchers to meet the formidable challenges involved in this field.

Project period: 2012-2016

The research leading to these results has received funding from the People Programme (Marie Curie Actions) of the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme FP7/2007-2013/ under REA grant agreement n° 317184
