Early Stage Researcher position (ESR, PhD-Student level) in the field of “Regulatory factors impacting photosynthetic performance” at the University of Freiburg, Germany

The Genetics and Experimental Bioinformatics unit at the University of Freiburg, Germany, is searching for an early career scientist to be trained as Early Stage Researcher (ESR) in the Marie Curie ITN network PHOTO.COMM. The intended start date is February 01, 2015, or upon negotiation and the position is limited to a duration of 4 months.

In the University of Freiburg project “Regulatory factors impacting photosynthetic performance”, the work will be supervised by Prof. Wolfgang R. Hess and co-supervised by Dr. Yumiko Sakuragi from University of Copenhagen, DK. The project tasks will include the analysis of regulatory RNA-protein interactions that have an impact on the photosynthetic apparatus and its performance with a focus on cyanobacteria. For this we seek a highly motivated candidate with a background in biochemistry, molecular biology or molecular physiology and experimental work in cyanobacteria. The project aims at contributing to the enhanced and stable production of desired chemicals and fuels from engineered strains of phototrophic microorganisms.

Cyanolab is located at the University of Freiburg, located in one of the most beautiful regions of Southern Germany in the heart of Europe.
