Fellowship Proposal Workshop

Canterbury, GB, 4-5 May 2015

(followed by Consortium Meeting and Supervisory Board meeting 6-7 May)

Objective: Previous experience has shown that ESRs and ERs greatly appreciate training in how to write grant/fellowship applications, and this course will be devoted to this topic. Prior to the meeting, discussions between the fellows and their two supervisors will identify which type of fellowship is of most relevance (e.g. Marie Curie IEF, EMBO, or national grant panel fellowships) for them. The fellows will then write project proposals in advance. During the network meeting these will be considered by mock panels. Importantly, the panels will include both fellows and supervisors; this will help to inform the fellows of how fellowship proposals are judged and what panels are looking for. Afterwards, each fellow will meet with the relevant panel to receive feedback.

  • Scheme for the workshop. This document outlines the proposed system for writing and reviewing Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (or a slightly shorter version thereof). The plan is to include a lecture on (i) fellowship schemes, from an expert, and (ii) on presentation skills.
  • Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships. This is a guide for applicants from 2014 (the 2015 call only opens in March).

Deadline: Reviews should be submitted to Prof. Colin Robinson (C.Robinson-504@kent.ac.uk) before April 20, 2015. This will give panels about 2 weeks to review them before the workshop.

Questions: Questions should be directed to Prof. Colin Robinson
